What can I expect regarding tests and quizzes?
Tests are given at the end of each unit or chapter. In general tests occur every 2-3 weeks. You may retake one test per quarter (oops pass), and both test scores will average into your grade (exception: Calculus class has NO retakes). Quizzes are given approximately once per week, depending on the material. Quizzes can be announced in advance or may be pop quizzes. Tests and quizzes will make up 80% of your quarter grade. The other 20% will be made up of homework, projects, and other assignments.
What should I do if I miss class?
If you miss class due to illness or any other reason, you should check the website for notes and the assignment. It is YOUR responsibility to review the notes and learn the material that you missed. It is also YOUR responsibility to ask me about any missed assignments and/or set a time to take a missed assessment. According to school policy, you have the same number of days you were absent to make up the work.
Where can I find help and extra explanation of topics?
The homepage of this website has links for math help websites. Pre-Calculus students may choose the help and textbook links within the MathXL site for the specific assignment. Geometry students may use your online textbook for help and examples. You may email me at [email protected] with questions
Can I turn in something late?
In most cases I do not accept late work for a grade. It is very important to the learning process in math that you stay up to date on work. Each lesson builds on previous lessons. Getting behind will cause a domino effect!
